This includes level crossings, road-over-rail bridges and rail-over-road bridges.
A formal written agreement is needed between John Holland Rail Pty Ltd (JHR), as manager of the Country Regional Network (CRN), and third-parties for working together to assess and manage effectively any safety risks at these interface points.
These Safety Interface Agreements (SIAs) formalise the risks and obligations of each party to the agreement to ensure all safety risks are managed through specific measures.
The agreements also describe how the success of planned arrangements is monitored.
Safety Interface Agreements
Rolling stock operators need an access agreement with Country Rail Contracts (CRC) and a Safety Interface Agreement with John Holland Rail (JHR) - both must be executed and valid before the oeprators are allowed to run on the network.
Other parties who may need an interface agreement with JHR include:
private siding owners
private land owners
utility service providers
road authorities, and
