Rail Resurfacing - Joppa Junction to Canberra

Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) is resurfacing the Queanbeyan to Tarago and Joppa Junction to Tarago railway lines. Works will be completed by TfNSW’s contractor, John Holland Rail (JHR) as part of the NSW Government’s rail infrastructure program across the country rail network.

Why is the work being completed?

The Joppa Junction to Tarago and Queanbeyan to Tarago railway lines require maintenance to ensure continued safe passage of trains along the railway line and safe access for the community.

When will work commence?

We will be resurfacing the line from:

  • Joppa Junction to Tarago, from Thursday 5 April to Sunday 8 April;
  • Tarago to Queanbeyan, from Monday 9 April to Tuesday 10 April and from Tuesday 17 April to Sunday 22 April; and
  • Queanbeyan to Canberra, from Monday 23 April to Tuesday 24 April 2018.

Site operations will run 24 hours.

How will I be affected?

During this work, all construction activity will remain within the rail corridor. There is potential for noise from the resurfacing work, and there may be some extra vehicle and heavy machinery movements in the area.

We will endeavour to minimise the impact to the community wherever possible. Thank you for your patience while this essential work is completed.
