Turnout removal, Wongarbon

Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) is undertaking the removal of redundant turnouts from the disused Wongarbon grain siding, as part of the NSW Government’s rail infrastructure program across the country rail network.

Works are being completed by TfNSW’s contractor, John Holland. John Holland operate and maintain the Country Regional Network across NSW under a ten year contract with TfNSW.


Why is the work being completed? 

The disused turnouts are being removed and transported for reuse in another part of the Country Regional Network.


Works involve: 

  • Removal of disused turnouts from the grain siding;
  • Transportation of turnouts to new location; and
  • Reinstatement of track.


When will work commence? 

Works are currently scheduled to commence 1 April 2019 and will be completed 3 April 2019, subject to final approvals and weather conditions.

Site operations will run from:

  • 3:00PM, Monday 1 April 2019 till 3:00AM, Tuesday 2 April 2019; and
  • 7:00PM, Tuesday 2 April till 1:00PM, Wednesday 3 April 2019.


How will I be affected? 

We will, as always, endeavour to minimise the impact to the community during this time however you may observe an increase in vehicles and heavy machinery in the area, in addition to an increase in noise during work hours.
